The forest fires are more than 600 miles away and yet I can see, smell and taste the smoke in the air. I know that many brave people are fighting this fire and hundreds more just like it in dry forested areas all over North America.
There are water bombers attacking from the air, heavy machines are plowing firebreaks on the ground and men and women are risking their lives trying to keep the fires from claiming more personal property and public forest.
