1.) Pasta instead of beans: El Niño costs Brazil’s families dear: Extreme weather has slashed Brazil’s harvest of beans, a staple food, driving the price up two-thirds. (M.D. Adds: Unless individuals and families bought and stockpiled beans when they were plentiful and cheap… in that case, they would still be eating at a lower price and have plenty.)

2.) Aerial photos show the true scale of the devastation wrought by Louisiana flooding that has killed 11 and damaged 40,000 homes: Also, More than 30,000 people have been rescued since Friday, and more than 110 state highways...
